How to Hang Sure Strip Wallpaper
PRIOR TO GETTING STARTED
Thank you for choosing this fine crafted wallcovering. Manufactured with a high-performance substrate and special adhesive, Sure Strip wallpapers smooth effortlessly onto the wall and are removable in full strips when it’s time to redecorate.
INSPECTION
Even though your wallpaper has been thoroughly inspected, examine all rolls before cutting or hanging. Confirm proper color, design, quantity, and that all rolls are from the same lot/run number. Warranty claims are limited after cutting and hanging more than three strips.
SURFACE PREPARATION
- Turn off electrical power and remove switch plates and outlet covers.
- Remove old wallpaper completely.
- Walls must be clean, dry, and smooth.
- Repair holes or rough areas that may affect the finished appearance.
- Surface should have two coats of paint, universal wallcovering primer, or a combination of both.
Step 1
TOOLS REQUIRED
- Tape Measure
- Level or Plumb Line
- Straight Edge
- Sharp Razor Knife
- Pencil
- Wallpaper Hand Sprayer
- Smoothing Brush or Sponge
Step 2
DRAW YOUR START LINE
Start in the least conspicuous corner of the room, such as behind a door or large piece of furniture. Measure out from the corner 1” less than the width of the wallpaper so the first strip wraps into the corner. Using a level or plumb line, draw a straight vertical line. This line will guide your first strip and must be perfectly vertical.
Step 3
CUT YOUR FIRST STRIP
Cut the first strip 4” longer than the wall height, allowing 2” extra at both the top and bottom for trimming after installation.
Step 4
ACTIVATE THE ADHESIVE
Lay the strip pattern-side down on a protected surface. Using a wallpaper hand sprayer, apply a fine mist of clean water to the entire pasted surface, paying close attention to the edges. Do not apply additional paste, as this will make future removal more difficult and void the guarantee.
Step 5
BOOK THE STRIP
Fold the top and bottom of the moistened strip toward the center, pasted sides together, without creasing. Roll loosely and allow it to rest for 2–3 minutes. This process, known as “booking,” allows the adhesive to activate and the paper to relax.
Step 6
APPLY TO WALL
After booking, unfold the top half of the strip and align the edge with your vertical guide line. Smooth gently from the center outward using a brush or sponge. Unfold the bottom half and continue smoothing downward, removing air bubbles and excess moisture.
Step 7
TRIM & MATCH NEXT STRIP
Trim excess wallpaper at the ceiling, baseboard, and around openings using a straight edge and sharp razor blade. Determine the next strip length using the pattern match at eye level. Butt seams tightly—do not overlap—and use light pressure when smoothing seams.
CLEANING TIPS
Remove loose dirt or dust using the soft brush attachment of a vacuum. Wipe gently with a clean, damp sponge if needed. Avoid aggressive scrubbing, especially on raised print patterns.
REMOVAL
To remove basic stains, we recommend using a mild soap and warm water solution and lightly wiping with a clean white cloth or sponge.
